Here are a few of my current beauty faves: the basics that make up my shower and skincare routine!
I picked up this soap at my local organic supermarket because it was made here in Australia and smells AMAZING! Bar soaps are my preferred shower accoutrement recently, as they tend to have gentler ingredients and last a long time. I have also been converted to loofahs (or is this a pouff?) because they make the best lather and cover me in luxurious suds!
This facial scrub is by another Aussie company: Australian Pure Beauty. For those of you avoiding phenoxyethanol, this scrub does contain this ingredient. However, it also includes beautiful extracts of Lilli Pilli and Wattleseed, cucumber, lavender, geranium and sandalwood: excellent skin boosting plants. I use this once a week. It smells phenomenal and leaves my skin baby soft without tugging or being too harsh for my sensitive skin.
My holy grail, one-stop skin miracle. I use this for oil cleansing, removing makeup, moisturising, and as a serum. My fave way is a few pumps massaging all over for 5 minutes, then placing a steamy hot facecloth over my face to let it open my pores and absorb… Voila, wipe away gently for rejuvenated, plump, fresh skin.
Biologika, a new (to me) Australian brand. I always let my nose lead the way and I bought these because of the clean ingredients and delicious scent. I love lavender, but these have a lil extra sum’n sum’n that makes me want to wash my hair more often… Caution with the conditioner, it is very moisturising: only use a small amount!
Last, but not least: Rosewater. I can never be without this, especially in tropical weather! It keeps me cool and calm, all I need is one spritz (or ten) all over my face and hair. It’s a combo of aromatherapy and skincare for me. Rosewater is known for it’s beautifying impact on skin, and I find the scent so soothing. Atlantic aromatics is an Irish brand that I have bought for years and am yet to be disappointed by a product. They also do a comprehensive line of essential oils, which I love.
Pictured next to the rosewater is a bottle of lavender essential oil, a multi-purpose skin saviour. Use diluted in oil (such as rosehip or almond) to calm red, irritated or acneic skin. I most commonly use it on insect bites to calm the itching (damn mosquitos!) or on my pillow to send me off to sleep.
